Important Update for South Africa’s Communication and Broadcasting Companies
ICASA has published a new notice in Government Gazette 54441 (31 March 2026). The notice tells all Broadcasting, ECS and ECNS license holders that they must send ICASA their annual forecast of licence fees and Universal Service and Access Fund contributions for the 2025/2026 year.
What this means:
- Every affected company must send ICASA their expected licence fees for the year, using the official format in the ICASA regulations. This must be done before the end of April each year.
- Broadcasting companies must also show how much they will pay to the Media Development and Diversity Agency.
- ICASA may also ask any licensee to provide documents or extra information if needed.
