ICASA’s Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Regulations, 2026 establish the regulatory framework governing South Africa’s transition to and operation of a fully digital terrestrial television broadcasting environment. The Regulations provide for the allocation and management of multiplex capacity, prescribe procedures for channel authorisation and signal distribution, and regulate the operation of multiplex services and broadcasters within the post-analogue switch-off environment. The Regulations aim to ensure the efficient use of radio frequency spectrum, support technological advancement, and promote a competitive and sustainable digital broadcasting sector in South Africa.
