Nokwanda Mkhize

Nokwanda is a Legal Intern at PPM Attorneys. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from the IIE Varsity College. Her academic excellence and growing portfolio of hands-on experience reflect an unwavering dedication to mastering her craft and staying ahead in a rapidly changing legal field.

Nokwanda is mainly interested in Cyber Law; Information, Communications and Technology law; Media Law; Intellectual Property and Privacy Law.

Outside of work, Nokwanda enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She especially enjoys expressing her creativity though fashion design and sewing. She loves sketching new clothing ideas and making her own clothes from scratch. This is a hobby that helps her relax.

• Conducting research on potential ethical concerns related to the implementation of AI-driven tools for employee performance reviews and predictive analytics, including issues of bias, transparency, data privacy, and fairness.
• Identifying and analysing the impact of AI algorithms on employee decision-making and performance evaluation processes.
• Providing insights on ethical and regulatory considerations for the integration of AI technologies in workforce management.
• Reviewing best practices and industry standards for the ethical use of AI in human resources.
• Preparing detailed presentation on findings and recommendations to ensure compliance with ethical principles and relevant data protection laws.
• Conducting comprehensive research on regulations surrounding ransomware, focusing on key legislation such as the Cybercrimes Act, the Cybersecurity Bill, and the Computer Misuse Act.
• Analysing the specific provisions within these Acts to determine their applicability and effectiveness in preventing, mitigating, and responding to ransomware attacks.
• Evaluating the alignment of these legislative measures with international standards and best practices in combating cybercrime.
• Assessing the extent to which these laws address critical aspects of ransomware threats, such as incident reporting, victim protection, liability, and cross-border enforcement.
• Reviewing the practical implementation and enforcement of these laws, considering challenges such as technological advancements and the evolving tactics of cybercriminals.
• Preparing a research paper to clarify the strengths and limitations of the current legal landscape, offering actionable recommendations to policymakers and stakeholders for strengthening ransomware-related regulations.
